This privacy policy explains how Jovix ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our website jovix.be or the JoviWatch mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Services covered

• jovix.be — our website including contact forms, appointment booking, and the AI chatbot.
• JoviWatch — our mobile app for tracking, rating and reviewing films, including social features.

Data we collect

We only collect what we need to provide our services:

• Contact details you provide (name, email, phone, message) through our contact form or booking.
• Account data for JoviWatch: email, username, hashed password, and if you sign in with Google or Facebook, your basic profile (name, email, avatar).
• Content you create: film ratings, reviews, comments, watchlists, favourites, collections, follows and likes.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, device type, operating system, approximate location based on IP, and crash logs.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, cookies and similar identifiers.
• Chatbot conversations: the messages you send and the responses we generate.

How we use your data

• To respond to your enquiries and deliver the service you requested.
• To create and maintain your JoviWatch account and let you use its features.
• To personalise your experience (recommendations, statistics, activity feed).
• To send transactional emails (confirmations, password resets, notifications you opted into).
• To detect spam, fraud and abuse, and keep our services secure.
• To improve our services through analytics and bug reporting.
• To comply with legal obligations.

Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent (cookies, marketing), the performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (security, improving the product), and to comply with legal obligations.

Third parties and sub-processors

We share limited data with carefully selected providers:

• Google reCAPTCHA — spam protection on forms. Subject to Google's privacy policy and terms.
• Google Sign-In and Facebook Login — only if you choose to sign in that way. We receive your basic profile.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) — film metadata and posters; search queries are sent to their API.
• Google AdMob — to show ads inside JoviWatch. AdMob may use advertising identifiers.
• CookieYes — consent management banner on jovix.be.
• Email and hosting providers — to deliver email and host the backend.
• Law enforcement or regulators — only when legally required.

We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies

jovix.be uses essential cookies to keep the site working and optional cookies for analytics and preferences. Optional cookies are only set after your consent through the cookie banner.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings.

Data retention

Contact form submissions are kept for up to 24 months. JoviWatch account data is kept as long as your account is active; you can delete your account at any time, after which personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep it longer.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request erasure of your data (right to be forgotten).
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Receive your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
• Lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

Security

We protect your data with HTTPS, hashed passwords (bcrypt), access controls, and regular updates. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area (for example in the United States). When this is the case, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards to protect your data.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via the website or inside the JoviWatch app.
